 DESCRIPTION OF THE UNITY BAR AND THE SCHOLARSHIP:

The Unity Bar Association of Sacramento is a unique organization celebrating the unity between the Leonard M. Friedman Bar Association (LMFBA), Asian/Pacific Bar Association of Sacramento (ABAS), Cruz Reynoso Bar Association of Sacramento (CRBA), Disability Inclusivity Bar Association of Sacramento (DIBAS), Sacramento Filipino American Lawyers Association (SacFALA), Sacramento Lawyers for the Equality of Gays and Lesbians (SacLEGAL), South Asian Bar Association of Sacramento (SABA), Wiley Manuel Bar Association (Wiley Manuel), and Women Lawyers of Sacramento (WLS)

On October 29, 2026, the Unity Bar will host its annual dinner. At the dinner, the LMFBA will present the scholarship to the student selected for the scholarship.

AMOUNT OF EACH SCHOLARSHIP:

$1,500

DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSIONS:

October 2, 2026 (no late submissions will be accepted)

CRITERIA:

This scholarship will be awarded to a law student whose achievements are consistent with LMFBA’s goals of promoting community service in the Jewish tradition of Tikkun Olam.** Special consideration will be given to applicants who have demonstrated an ongoing involvement in the Jewish community, in addition to working to benefit, improve, or aid the Jewish community or the community at large. Applicants should submit a resume including a list of volunteer activities, plus an essay of up to one page describing in detail the applicant’s involvement or projects to date and what the applicant plans to do in the coming year to promote Tikkun Olam.

** Tikkun Olam—A Hebrew phrase meaning humanity’s shared responsibility to heal, repair, and transform the world
